In Ishigaki, visiting the beaches is a must. Here are my favorites:
KABIRA BAY
Kabira is a white coral sand beach with crystal clear and warm water.
It is not signposted on the road and you will have to drive along a dirt road that gets narrower and narrower until you reach a small clearing where you can park and then continue on foot until you reach the beach.
Don't give up along the way and you won't regret what you'll find at the end of the road!

KOJIMA BAY
It is by far the beach that impressed me the most. When we arrived, the tide was going out and the spectacle before our eyes was what you see below.
You can safely leave your belongings on a branch and take a walk around the island at low tide (I recommend arriving at Kojima around 12 noon). The complete tour of the island takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. You will be practically alone and from the sea you can see pineapple plants clinging to the island.
Once you have finished your tour of the island, treat yourself to a swim in the warm, crystal-clear waters.

CRYSTAL BEACH
To reach Crystal Beach you will have to walk a very steep path through the middle of the tropical forest. Even in this case, your effort will be amply rewarded by a spectacular beach.
Bring your masks with you because here you can go snorkeling and see many fish and corals.
SUNSET BEACH
As the name suggests, this beach is a must-see at sunset. The surrounding tropical vegetation is truly stunning.
Between one beach and another I recommend:
TAMATORIZAKI
Absolutely not to be missed is the view from the Tamatorizaki viewpoint.
It is easy to reach as it is well signposted along the road. By car you can drive all the way to the top where you will find the parking lot.
The view is truly breathtaking. You will see the coral reef standing out against the lush tropical vegetation.
Refresh yourself by tasting a smoothie at the bar you will find in front of the parking lot.
YAEYAMA PALM FOREST
This forest is a national heritage site as it contains 500 palms, including the native Yaeyama palms. It will feel like entering the tropical forest.
At the exit, enjoy a fresh smoothie at the kiosk, made exclusively with local fruit and sugar cane syrup distilled on the spot.
CERAMICS SHOP (near Yonehara Beach and the campsite)
Stop and shop at this store. Inside you will find the symbol of Okinawa and its islands: Shīsā, that is, the two male and female lions. In this shop they make them in various colors. I bought them in a multicolor version: really lovely as a souvenir of this wonderful island!
